Each of the 4 images was shot as 16 frames, with the 35mp camera position moved, in a panorama rotation, for each frame. I then, subsequently, in Photoshop, stitched 16 separate frames. Because each of the resulting file sizes are so large (>18GB), it can be enlarged to 10 feet high by 80 feet long with amazing clarity and sharpness. Regarding mural size, the mural is printed on a 10 foot wide roll of paper, 80 feet long, using a 10 feet wide printer. The print is mounted on an aluminum track system 1 inch thick for attaching to a wall.
A dye-sublimation printer is used to print onto an 8 mil, heavy knit polyester roll, 10 feet wide. The process uses the science of sublimation, in which heat and pressure are applied to a solid, turning it into a gas through an endothermic reaction without passing through the liquid phase. The sublimation process is a nearly permanent, high resolution, full color print. Because the dyes are infused into the substrate at the molecular level, the prints will not crack, fade or peel from the substrate. The print has a high degree of archival permanence and will not fade or discolor for 200+ years. The sublimation print can be easily cleaned using a diluted solvent cleaning pad, such as Mr. Magic eraser or Scotch-Brite erasing pads containing melamine foam, or a dust mop for general cleaning.Attachments:
