My name is Rosalinda Pacheco and I am an artist currently pursuing a BFA in Art Studio at UNM with an emphasis in painting and drawing. As a Nuevo Mexicana, I am compelled to tell the stories of New Mexican culture that I have explored; generations and generations of stories that have never been brought into the limelight. My artistic journey enforces human commonalities that transcend barriers such as language, rurality, and poverty. I call attention to people who have been marginalized. I evoke a genuine contemplation on the cyclic lives of people and the communal celebration of culture that captures uplifting connections.
Influenced by cultural significance, I try to create art that is reflective of the values that have been instilled in me through experiences. My core beliefs and values have been shaped through the deep bond I am blessed to have with my heritage and family. Culture is so crucial to the individuality of people; it should be seen as a critical element in our society. My family has always been outspoken about the obligation that we have to enliven our community through cultural celebration.
