Shakti Kroopkin
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Drawing on urban and natural elements Shakti Kroopkin blends abstract space with the energy of Street Art to create visionary worlds of limitless possibility. Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Shakti merges influences of city life, music, art and culture with the vastness of Northern New Mexico’s high desert, where she currently resides. Her intuitive work, free from the constraints of logic, gravity, and reality, allow polarities to find balance between the real and the imagined. A crescendo of color and movement invite the viewer to explore emotion, memory, and the free association of the creative process. Raw strokes and primitive symbolism combine in a new field of human experience and imagination.
Shakti graduated from the world-renowned School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1998 and moved to Santa Fe, NM in 2005. She is currently the 2020 President of the Santa Fe Society of Artists, a non profit comprised of local artists producing downtown outdoor art shows, a part time art teacher at SFPS Nava Elementary, sole proprietor of Shakti Kroopkin Fine Art and Shapespace studio, and teacher of abstract art workshops to all ages. Kroopkin has shown in over 50 galleries and art shows across the country and is internationally collected. She currently shows with Walter Wickiser Gallery, NY, NY, Keep Contemporary, Santa Fe, NM, Gallery 13/Starlight Arts in Minneapolis, MN and Jezebel Gallery, Madrid, NM.
Shakti finds art to be transformational for both painter and viewer. Imagination shifts space and thought, changes limited perspectives into wonderment, and wakes our connection to life force energy.
