This mural represents the plains of New Mexico. It is part of the 5 murals Walraven was commissioned to paint at the Sandia High School. I featured the Showy Milkweed front and center with all of the critters of the plains in the background. There is a lot going on in this mural.

Walraven painting professionally for over 20 years. Her work started off very graphic and illustrative and now she is experimenting with more mixed media and abstract elements. She has painted 6 murals in Albuquerque; 5 of those at the Sandia High School and one at Valle de Oro NWR. Nature and animals are what really light her up as she has always been a steward of wildlife and they are often featured in her artwork.
