I am AJ Leibengeist. I located to Albuquerque during the turn of the millennium to pursue more creative ways and means of my life.
I’ve been doing artwork and hobbies in various forms for over fifty years now. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, I engaged in art and science programs at the Kirk Patrick Planetarium in the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, where I created and sold my first art work.
I’ve been able to apply those skills throughout my professional career life. I’ve created university course materials, architectural and construction plans, network diagrams, clothing and custom gear designs.
I believe that visual art can be a strong communication and emotional experience just as is music, poem and prose. Our world and lives are too complex to remain a simpleton, you’d only get kicked to the curb of life. At times I can be a minimalist, seeking to use simple forms to express a broader meaning. Then I can be manically attentive to detail striving for a more grand image. More recently, I’ve been focusing on a story based, issue addressing, emotional and historical significant. This lead to the fifteen piece set titled, A Crash of Rhinos.
